Cjamaedorea Elegans or Parlour Palm

DESCRIPTION

This small palm tree native to Mexico and Guatemala is so easy to grow that it has earned an undisputed role in the group of hardy houseplants that withstand the worst. It creates a small clump composed of several palmate stems, generating very elegant dense clumps. It is undoubtedly the easiest palms to grow indoors.

Scientific name: Chamaedorea elegans

Curiosities: Popularly known as the lounge palm, camadora or pacaya. The Chamaedora elegans was very popular in Victorian times.

CARE

Temperature: It grows well in an environment with temperatures between approximately 15-25°C.

Light: It is not fussy about light, being able to survive in low light environments at home. Obviously, if it is given a brighter place it will grow better, but always avoiding direct sunlight, as it will inevitably yellow the leaves.

Watering: During the growth of new leaves keep the soil moist and also fertilise it, but the rest of the year let the soil dry out between watering and watering.

Manure: During spring and summer, a special liquid or solid fertilizer for green plants is recommended. Frequency of application as indicated by the product manufacturer.

Transplanting: The chamaedorea can remain healthy and elegant looking for many years without transplanting, but if you notice that there is a mismatch between a clump of dense, voluminous stems and leaves and a small pot, transplant it to a larger pot using a good substrate.
