DESCRIPTION

. The ficus lyrata is a tropical plant from Africa that is perfect for indoors. Its elegant shape and lustrous, deep green leaves add a lively touch to any space. It should be noted that with cold weather or changes in temperature, brown shading can appear on its leaves. Scientific name: Ficus lyrata Warb or Ficus pandurata Hort. Sander.

. Temperature: It grows well in an environment between 18º and 25º. At lower temperatures, the growth of its leaves may slow down

. Light: It requires good lighting, but never direct sunlight

. Watering: The plant should be watered regularly but in small doses. Between waterings, check that the first 5 cm of the substrate is dry. In winter, it needs water every 10 days. In summer, every 3-4 days. Too much water can cause yellow leaves

. Fertilizer: Use specific fertilizers for green plants. Fertilising the Ficus lyrata during the warmer months will help its growth to be more energetic and the plant to be in its best shape

. Potting out: In the case of the Ficus lyrata it is advisable to change pots every 2 or 3 years, during the spring or summer, when the temperatures are pleasant. The new pot should be only 5-6 cm larger in diameter than the current one
